The Creative Arts Center in Bonham has hired a new Executive Director. Sandy Barber started work at the local nonprofit community art center on January 9, 2024.
“I am so excited to start in this new position!” said Sandy. “I am thrilled to be able to combine my experience and knowledge in running a nonprofit agency with my passion for the arts.”

Sandy remembers when the Creative Arts Center first opened. Her daughter Katie took art classes at the center as she was growing up. Her youngest daughter Cassidy was an active member of the Kidz Krew theatre program. Sandy was an active theatre mom in those days and even ended up directing four Kidz Krew shows. More recently, Sandy has taken watercolor classes and been a vendor at the Sweets, Spirits and Sparkles.

Sandy brings more than 32 years of experience from the nonprofit world, including more than 22 years leading the Fannin County Children’s Center and nearly a decade working at North Texas Youth Connection. Sandy is a graduate of Austin College who married her college sweetheart. She and her spouse have raised three girls and live in the Bonham area with their three dogs.

Sandy encourages folks to stop by the center anytime it is open to meet her, view the art on display, shop in the gift store and learn more about becoming part of the art community at the center. The Creative Arts Center is open Tuesday – Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 12 noon. It is located at 200 W. 5th in Bonham.
