Bring your own art supplies, chair, table, lap desk, easel, etc.

Enjoy meeting outdoors with other creatives to paint, draw or create with your choice of medium.

Will cancel in case if bad weather.

Plein Air Checklist

Core Painting Supplies

  • Easel or pochade box – lightweight, portable (e.g., Open Box M, Guerrilla Painter, or French easel)

  • Panel holder or board – for securing paper or panels

  • Painting surface – primed panels, canvas sheets, watercolor blocks, or pastel paper

  • Paints – a compact palette with essential colors (consider limiting to a travel palette)

  • Palette – built into pochade box or separate mixing palette

  • Brushes – a small selection (rounds, flats, or filberts); consider travel brushes

  • Brush holder / roll-up case

  • Palette knife (for mixing or scraping)

  • Mediums – small containers for linseed oil, solvent, or water (depending on medium)

  • Water cup or solvent jar – with tight lid

Support Gear

  • Tripod – sturdy and adjustable if using a pochade box setup

  • Paper towels / rags

  • Brush cleaner or baby wipes

  • Clips / tape / binder clips – to hold reference or secure paper

  • Viewfinder / value finder

  • Sketchbook and pencil – for thumbnails or notes

  • Notebook – jot color notes, location, or lighting info

Comfort & Safety

  • Hat – wide-brimmed for sun protection

  • Sunscreen

  • Bug spray

  • Sunglasses

  • Folding stool or camp chair

  • Lightweight umbrella / shade umbrella

  • Water bottle

  • Snacks

  • Jacket or extra layer (weather can change fast!)

  • Towel or mat – for sitting on the ground
